Here is a quote taken from the Liberation Collective:
"The existence of male submissives in BDSM practice does
nothing to excuse, nullify, or disprove the fact that BDSM is violence against
women. We know that liberated sexuality does not follow the patriarchal model
of dominance and submission, and that BDSM is the normalization of domestic
violence."
What do you think???

Not a subject I`ve given a lot of thought to, and since I`m a male submissive, my views don`t seem to be relevant (according to the quote), but here are a couple of thoughts anyway!
The last sentence seems totally contradictory. Isn`t BDSM a consensual practice, and while there may be pain, where is the violence? Is this what is meant by "normalisation" of domestic violence! No, it cannot be, the supposed "link" between BDSM and domestic "patriarchal" violence is just that, supposed, imagined (are Dommes the normalisation of matriarchal domestic violence, that is greatly unreported?).
For there to be a link between BDSM and domestic violence, there would have to be a similarity, or at least overlap, between the reasons why either occur. Domestic violence, male on female or female on male, is inevitably a result of the social pressures we live under, frustration, lack of opportunity, economics, boredom, etc etc. BDSM on the other hand is a consensual, considered practice, an emotional experiment, and one that benefits both parties. Where is the link?
The problem with such writings/quotes is that they tend to compare extremes. If I was so inclined, I guess I might try to link a male partner beating and raping the female, with a Dom punishing and penetrating a female submissive. Is there a link there, is it even justified, I don`t think so.
To call BDSM a normalisation of domestic violence is absurd, everything about the two practices is different and of different origins.
BDSM is consensual violence against the willing by the willing
